Study of Coleoptera Diversity in Rowobendo Resort, Alas Purwo National Park
Kerisdimas Bio-Con conducted an insect biodiversity study in the Rowobendo Resort area of Alas Purwo National Park in 2022. The research aimed to investigate insect diversity as part of biodiversity conservation efforts within the national park ecosystem.
Rowobendo Resort is a strategic transition zone connecting coastal forest ecosystems and savanna habitats, creating highly diverse environmental conditions. Sampling was carried out using several methods, including r pitfall traps, sticky traps, and beating trays for Coleoptera (beetles).
The results revealed remarkably high insect diversity, particularly from the Coleoptera and Lepidoptera groups.
Coleoptera (Beetle) Diversity
The study documented 20 beetle species distributed across various vegetation types within Rowobendo Resort. This diversity reflects the complexity of the transition habitat, which supports numerous ecological roles ranging from decomposers to predators.

The presence of fireflies (Pygoluciola sp.) indicates that the Rowobendo ecosystem remains relatively natural and undisturbed. Fireflies are highly sensitive to light pollution and chemical contamination, making them important bioindicators of healthy ecosystems.
